How to determine the size of your blanket when using different yarn weight, or brand ?
Make a small crochet square, 3 x round of 3 dc sts as per the instructions in the pattern. Measure your square. Let's say your example square is 4"
Divide the desired blanket width and length by the size of one large square:
Example :
- Large square ( made up with 3 x 3 = 9 small squares joined )
- Width = ( 3 x square width ) + ( length of 1 dc row x 3)
- Length = ( 3 x square width ) + ( length of 1 dc row x 3)
Example :
- Width = ( 3 x 4” = 12” ) + ( 0.66” x 3 ) = ( 12” + 3” ) = 15”
- Length = ( 3 x 4” = 12” ) + ( 0.66” x 3 ) = ( 12” + 3” ) = 15”
- Large square size : 15 ” x 15 “
- Width: 50 ÷ 15 = 3.3 → round to 4 large squares
- Length: 65 ÷ 15 = 4.3 → round to 5 large squares
You will need a total of : 20 large squares
You need 9 small squares to complete a large square
9 x 20 = 180 small squares.

Create a cozy easy granny square blanket bursting with rainbow colors. A relaxing project that’s fun, fast, and satisfying
Start your crochet granny square with a magic ring.
Form a loop with your yarn. loop the yarn around your fingers so that the yarn you are working with, lies on the right while the "tail" of the yarn lies on the left.
Insert the hook through the loop, and slide the crochet hook under both pieces of yarn from right to left.
Use the hook tip to hook onto a portion of yarn from the working end (yarn attached to the ball) of the yarn.
Pull the yarn through the ring to create another loop on your hook, this does not count as your first stitch.
Chain stitch.
Try to leave a workable tail end, as it helps secure the yarn when weaving in ends.
